Season summary:

Despite not yet making his AFL debut, Bennetts is among the Hawks' most exciting prospects, after recently taking home Box Hill's Best First Year Player and finishing 6th in the Box Hill best and fairest award. The Hawthorn Next Generation Academy graduate, who joined the club as a Category B Rookie last year, has been lively up forward across his 20 VFL games, booting 19 goals for the season while averaging 13.3 disposals. Praised by his coaches as a reliable teammate, the 19-year-old has impressed with his clean hands, class and decision making.

What the coaches said:

"He was very reliable with us all year, but like all our first-years, he had some ups and downs, and we understand that development and improvement isn't linear. He looked lively at several stages and was really involved in most of our games. He was applying great pressure and used the ball well inside 50 when he got his opportunities. He works his backside off. He is a great team player and brings others into the game." - Zane Littlejohn
