Star forward Luke Breust is available for selection ahead of Hawthorn's clash with St Kilda on Saturday.

Hawthorn High Performance Manager Peter Burge said it was "fantastic" to have Breust back in the selection mix for the first time since Round 3.

“He has now had a week of really good training and had a great session last weekend," Burge said.

"He is resuming full training with the group this week and will be available for this weekend.”

In some further good news, Denver Grainger-Barras will make his return via the VFL after suffering a toe injury during the pre-season.

Burge said Grainger-Barras would play some limited match minutes with Box Hill after completing a solid block of work through his rehab program.

“He has been training with the main group for a week and a half, so he is ready to have some match play this weekend,” Burge added.

“It's really exciting seeing him back playing footy.”

Changkuoth Jiath is also listed as available as he looks to make his return to the field for the first time in 2024.

“He is tracking really well, he had three weeks of really good training following a minor interruption with his right quad,” Burge explained.

"His fitness is really good and he has showed us enough outside at training in the last week or so that he is ready.

“But, he will be slightly restricted given it has been a while since he has played a match.”

Captain James Sicily is a chance to play this weekend against St Kilda, despite facing a double injury blow during his side's recent win over the Western Bulldogs.

Sicily dislocated his shoulder in the first quarter, before rolling his ankle later in the game.

Burge said Sicily would be assessed later this week to determine his availability for the weekend.

“His shoulder strength is really good and he has pulled up quite well, but he did have a dislocation so it's a complex one,” Burge said.

“It's looking quite positive at the moment, but we will involve all of our medical team, James and the coaches to be a bit more solid in our progress and what we're going to do towards this weekend.

"There are a few things to check off Thursday, but it's looking pretty positive at this stage."

Meanwhile, Mabior Chol will miss this Saturday's game at UTAS Stadium, after developing a wrist injury following the Round 7 loss against Sydney.

“He had the suspension (last week) and then when we returned to training it became apparent that he had a wrist injury with some ligament damage,” Burge explained.

“We had it scanned later last week and it wasn’t good enough to actually participate in the training with the group, so we kept him separate anticipating he would return this week, but that progression has been slower than expected."
